DeWitt Central FFA

Horticulture Class:

In early Fall, poinsettias are ordered for the greenhouse for Christmas sales.  The poinsettias are marketed to administration, teachers and community members. This year we productively sold and grew 106 red, white, and pink poinsettias. The poinsettias are cared for by the students. They are watered and fertilized as needed.

The greenhouse is one of our biggest assets to our program. The Horticulture class utilizes the greenhouse from January-May. The DeWitt-Central FFA has an agreement with the City of DeWitt to plant their flowers for downtown. Each year the Horticulture class decides on flower types and waters, fertilizes and cares for the flowers. The Horticulture class also has a Spring plant sale where they sell all types of vegetables and this year will have a wide assortment of annuals and different grasses.
