CDE stands for Career Development Events. These contests help members to improve skills that they will use to succeed in their careers. Below are descriptions of all the leadership CDEs and some skills CDEs that take place at sub-district or district convention. Could you sell ketchup to a lady in white gloves? If so, try this contest out! Select one agricultural product or service and give it your best shot and try to sell it to the customer! You must be very knowledgeable on your product or service. This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Do you like working with your hands? Enjoy hot places where sparks are flying? Welding is a CDE that tests your skill at different types of welds. Participate in this CDE to improve your welding technique and form! -This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Select one agricultural job that you would like to interview for and research away as to why you want to work for them. Create a resume and cover letter to go with your presentation. This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Experience the Action:
Can you act? Ever wanted to just be yourself by acting goofy? ETA plans a recruitment skit for younger members that is fun and interactive. No official dress required for this contest! This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Want to brag up our chapter activities and work in a team? Chapter Program breaks down our POA and you create a powerpoint presentation to share images and information on our chapter’s activities! This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
How about a school board or city council meeting? If you have, then you’ve seen it done! “Parli Pro” is a contest in which a group of five people take turns running a meeting demonstrating five abilities and items of business. This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Want to overcome the most fearful thing in the world or just improve your speaking skills? Then public speaking is for you! Select and research any topic in agricultural and put together a paper, memorize it and give the speech within 6-8 minutes. This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Conduct of Meetings:
“The meeting room will come to order…” Work with a team of 7 other members to properly run a meeting and learn 5 parliamentary procedure abilities. You will be assigned one of the seven officer positions to take on that role. This contest is available to 8th-10th graders.

Select one “unique” FFA activity that our chapter does and put together a tri-fold display outlining our goals, outcomes, achievements, etc! This just involves you creating and setting up to display in Hilton coliseum! This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Do you dream of being on the radio? Now is your chance! Prepare markets, weather, news report and create your own commercial! This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
Ag Discussion Meet:
Are you a graduated FFA member? Brush up on your agricultural knowledge to have a discussion about a selected topic with other peers. This contest is limited to graduated members.
“I believe in the future of agriculture” and presenting each of the 5 paragraphs of the FFA creed! Once you participate in this contest, you will never EVER forget the creed! This contest is available to 8th-9th graders.
What is the impact of agriculture is our region? Research about local agriculture influences and put it all together in a presentation to brag it up! This contest is open to four eighth graders.
Are you good at making things up on the fly? Select one agriculture topic from the 3 at random you are given and prepare a speech on it. Knowledge of the agriculture industry is highly encouraged, but are able to research if you feel you lack in this area. This contest is available to 9th-12th graders.
